I graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, with minors in Education and Minority Studies.
I write fiction and nonfiction books for children. I am a former contributing editor for the National Writing For Children Center and a book reviewer for Tiger Tales Books, The Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database, NG Kids, Media Masters Publicity and Book Pleasures. I was a parenting expert for Bizymoms in which I provided insightful articles on parenting and family life. I am a featured blogger at The Raise Foundation and had featured posts the first Monday of the month. I also love the art of the interview and create articles that capture the essence of human kind as well as provide important and helpful information to the reader at Ezine.
To help me achieve my goal of becoming a better writer, I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), the Association of Children’s Authors and Illustrators of Color (ACAIC), the Kansas City Writers Meetup Group, The Kansas City Authors Group and I have a certificate in Writing for Children & Teenagers from The Institute of Children’s Literature.
Recently I have partnered with Leanna Brunner of Studio Z Publishing and Theresa D. Love a SCBWI Event Coordinator, School Librarian, Educator and Writer for the 2014 Write The Dream conference. It will be held in Bartle Hall located in downtown Kansas City, Missouri on March 7th. For more information please visit www.writethedream.com.
